3RD GOODWILL BOOKSTORE INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ:

Greetings of Goodwill!

We are pleased to invite your school to join the “3rd Goodwill Bookstore Inter-school Quiz” (GBS-IQ). The competition will be held at the SMX Convention Center, on September 13, 2012 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

Listed below are the rules of the 3rd GBS-IQ:

1. Competition is open to 3rd and 4th year high school students enrolled in an NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Bicol region public or private school.
2. Each school must send two (2) representatives to form a pair. Only one pair per school can join.
3. There will be three (3) elimination rounds:
   
   • Division round. This will be a paper and pencil test which will be held at a designated venue which will be announced after the deadline of submission of entries on July 20, 2012.
   • Inter-division round. This will be a buzzer-beater contest which will be held at a designated venue which will be announced after the division rounds.
   • Semi-finals. This will be a buzzer-beater contest which will be held during the 33rd Manila International Book Fair.
4. The GBS-IQ inter-division and semi-final rounds consist of three rounds:
   
   • Easy (composed of 3 questions). For the Easy round, every correct answer is given one (1) point.
   • Average (composed of 3 questions). For the Average round, every correct answer is given two (2) points.
   • Difficult (composed of 3 questions). For the Difficult round, every correct answer is given three (3) points.
5. The Final Round will be held right after the semi-final round.
6. The GBS-IQ final round consist of three rounds:
   
   • Easy (composed of 5 questions). For the Easy round, every correct answer is given one (1) point.
   • Average (composed of 5 questions). For the Average round, every correct answer is given two (2) points.
   • Difficult (composed of 5 questions). For the Difficult round, every correct answer is given three (3) points.
7. The GBS-IQ questions will cover the following subject areas:
   
   • Mathematics: Basic Arithmetic and Algebra
   • Science: Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry
   • English: Literature
   • General Information
8. Only the Goodwill arbiters have the final say in case of competition disputes arising from quiz items.

The Second Runner-up will receive P 20,000 and Certificates of Recognition. The school of the Second Runner-up will also receive a Certificate of Recognition.

The First Runner-up will receive P 30,000 and Certificates of Recognition. The school of the First Runner-up will also receive a Certificate of Recognition.

The Second Runner-up will receive P 20,000 and Certificates of Recognition. The school of the Second Runner-up will also receive a Certificate of Recognition.

All the students and schools who will participate will receive Certificates of Participation and special tokens.
